A Season of Change

A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; Ecclesiastes 3:3

A Season of Change

As I was standing in my kitchen doing dishes and looking out my window, I see the tree that once was full of beautiful flowers and leaves is now empty and looking lonely. As I stared at its nakedness, I imagined how that tree also has to endure the changes of seasons. As I ponder and watch what is going on in the outdoors, I am reminded that just as humans undergo change, so does God’s creation. He calls them seasons; in Ecclesiastes 3:1 says: There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.  The four seasons of life are: Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. Each of these seasons demands a particular action on our part.

During the Winter, we need to dream and plan. In Spring, we need to plant. For Summer, we must water and cultivate and during Fall, we finally reap and sow. We have to take the good and the bad to fully appreciate and enjoy this beautiful cycle of nature. Just like nature, there are also positive and negative lessons that come with changes in our own lives.

Spring was and is my favorite season because it is a season of growth. It is time where new birth takes place, the blossom of leaves, the grass, the flowers, the chirping of the birds, it's a time of growth and revival. It might sound silly to you,  but Spring enhances natural beauty and it seems as if nature is dressed in a beautiful green gown, especially when the spring showers fall upon the earth, it refreshes, it renews and it restores, for there to be fields of flowers, there has to be rain. The same is true in our own lives: for the winter to pass and spring to come, we have to experience the cold days. For the flowers to bloom, we have to walk through the rainstorms of life. There are some days when you may feel tall and beautiful as the trees look in full bloom in the summer. Other days, you may feel empty, exposed, and cold as the trees during the winter. I am currently undergoing a change of "season" in my personal life. As much as I enjoy the changes that God brings to His creation, I find it difficult to find the beauty in change that He allows to take place in my life personally. Thankfully, we serve a God who stands the test of time and journeys with us through the changes, whether it's a peak or a valley of each season. I can’t change the fact that change happens. But I have learned to control how to deal with it.

To anyone who is now currently going though a season, Be Still! Some changes that take place in nature are unpleasant and ugly, but it has to take place for us to be able to enjoy the beauty that comes as a result. I encourage you to see what God is trying to teach you through this season of your life. See the good in the emptiness of the trees because soon there will be beautifully colored leaves that fill the branches! Then we can look back and thank God for the change that took place to create the majesty of His creation and work in your life!  I would also like to point out, if you are walking with Jesus, no matter what changes you are going through, He is right by your side, for the Word tells us in Deuteronomy 31:6-- Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Even if you may feel alone, you are not. As I was going through a very personal and painful season of my life I learned to push more into Jesus. I came before His throne in prayer, worship, and true surrender and allowing God through His word to bring restoration and change into my life . It is amazing when you have no one but the Lord how much your intimacy with Him increases. So when you are undergoing change or when you feel alone - push into Jesus, come to Jesus, fall on Jesus. He will give you peace, rest, joy, fulfillment, and grace that can be found nowhere else and;  to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of GodEphesians 3:19

To Conclude: I am convinced that God allows change so that we will learn to rely fully on His timing and presence, which increases our faith in the process! It is in these times in my life that the most spiritual growth has taken place. I hope that you will see the change that the Lord has allowed you to go through as a blessing. It may be hard to see the good in whatever you are going through right now, but let me put your worries to rest and tell you that God has a plan for you going through this change. I encourage you to look around and see the beauty of the change that is taking place before your very eyes! For the Word of God tells us in Romans 8:28--And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

My Journey To Christ

Every now and then, God reveals a truth to me in such a way that I feel like I have to write about it. These are my little “Aha!” moments as a Christian woman and my journey with Christ. I hope that reading them will somehow help you in your walks of faith as well.

I have been in church for over 10 years of my life. In spite of that fact, I was taught and believed God being Creator, Savior and Lord. However, knowing these things to be true in my head vs believing and living this out is something entirely different. I believe we all have a sense that God is real, whether or not we are believers in Jesus Christ. However, despite the truth about God that I had been exposed to in my mid 30's, I still chose to go my own way…choosing my plans for my life, my goals and my desires…not ever really considering God’s purpose for my life. This continued for many years. I went to church, but I wasn't truly “sold out” for the LORD. The last few years have been a tremendous time of growth for me personally and spiritually. I believe that I met a man named Jesus years ago…he was a passerby that I took notice of, listened to his plan for salvation and took him up on it…occasionally I would talk to him, was interested in what he said, but many times, I would lose interest. Not because He wasn't interesting, but because I wasn't ready to yield my life to Him and what He wanted. I wanted to reserve my RIGHT to choose whatever I wanted.

However, in the last couple of years I've done more than just glance at Jesus and half-heartedly listen to Him, I finally chose the greater thing…to sit as His feet and take Him in. For He promises in Revelation 3:20 – Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him/her, and he/her with me. You see, I finally discovered that Jesus had been waiting patiently for me to say, “Come in Father, I want to know all about You” In doing so, I've discovered a joy that I have never known, a peace that surpasses all understanding, a boldness I never knew (hard to believe if you have known me a long time ) and yet a gentleness and compassion that can only come from the touch of a loving Savior.

I have discovered that God’s Word is FULL of promises and that because of choosing my own way or believing what others told me was true about the bible (taking someone else’s word for it) I have missed out on TREMENDOUS blessing and lived in defeat unnecessarily!! As my love for the LORD has grown, my worship of Him has deepened! I can’t help but express my gratitude for what He’s done in my life…for allowing me to see things clearly – with spiritual eyes – for teaching me new things about Himself and about who I am in Him – I will forever be grateful and I long for heaven when I can spend eternity in worship before His throne. And yet, there’s still so much more to do and be discovered…so much to learn and yet the journey is just beginning.

Inspired By His Presence

Lord, lift me up upon your wings of glory, lift me up to places I have never been before. Lift me up to be transformed on the wings of your Spirit, never looking back to the things of my past. It is only "IN YOU"  I desire to be. Let me be still oh God, as you lift me up so I may hear every beat of your heart as you give me comfort and strengthen me, for my only desire is to rest in your presence. {written 3.25.2013}

As I whispered your name Jesus…my mind began to overflow praises unto you O’Lord and I felt I was walking in a cloud of love and the anointing of your glory was pouring from heaven into my soul…and the abundance of praise and worship poured down into my lips like burning coal and the most amazing feeling of your presence fell on me like a shooting STAR !! And it started to spark up some radical worshiping in tongues….I felt like a feather floating in harmony with your breath blowing me in the essence of your peace and you enticed me with the fragrance of love mixed together with spices of glory and touches of joy that erupted into a trumpet of praise onto you..with tears full of happiness and freedom that surrounded me until I fell under the feet of the cross with a heart full of love for my Master Creator! My God for you know how to entice me to fall in love with you, your presence alone wakes in me a freedom to lift up my hands and praise you and dance like David did….for every breath that I took was a breath of deliverance, an inhale of freedom and I was set free to tell the world of your wonders ..for you MY gracious GOD are forever setting me free and with a grateful heart I shall rejoice and sing to you forever !! {written 6.19.2012}

As I sit down in my quiet place, I mediate on your grace, O’Lord. The love that you have shown me has made me feel I am no longer alone.  For in my brokenness, I pray for You to lead the way, for I see Your mercies and hear the sounds of Your glory. I thank you for your mercy and grace, for the joy in my heart that can’t be replaced. My spirit is alive and begins to praise You again, Father you are my creator, hallowed me thy Name!  My spirit soars as I read Your Living Word, I know beyond a doubt, my prayers are being heard.  My quiet place has become a sanctuary, where I meet you everyday, where I sit and cry out and share my thoughts with You, and I hope you help me find my way and I know, I know, I know Your Grace will see me through!  {written on 4.21.2012}

Father my desire is to feel the very essence of your glory. My soul aches to feel your touch. My mind wants to consume itself in your wisdom. My heart beats at every touch of your love. My spirit weakens without the power of your strength. How can my mind spirit and soul live a day without your presence? For it is through You my life exist. {written 9.8.2011}

The Threshing Floor of Love

Loyalty and Submission
The Book of Ruth

The Threshing Floor of Love

The threshing floor in the bible is symbolic for purification, a time of preparation to meet our God. {I researched it} When I began my threshing floor experience, I felt as if I have been through so much that I couldn't go on.  I was at a point where I got on my knees crying out to God to rescue me.  I wanted this time of trial in my life to just end. It got at a crossroads with God and it was either go on with Him or go back into the world. So, on May 1, 2012, I woke up again feeling this dreadful feeling of depression and I took my bible from my night-stand and crying I lifted it up and pleaded for God to have clemency over my life. When I opened my bible, there in front of me was the Book of Ruth.  I said to myself “The book of Ruth?” “What can this book say to me?” (Mind you, I said it with an attitude) Previously, I had read the book of Ruth and it didn't inspire me in any way, but I decided to read it. As I raised my hands to God, I prayed for understanding; to open my heart to receive His Living Word, but little did I know that this amazing book of only four chapters was going to transform me from the depths of my despair to the heights of hope. To make this long story short but to the point, there are times when God must show us and reveal the things to us that are “weeds “in our life so that we can separate them from the seeds.  God revealed to me things I needed to remove and replace in my life. The chapters that ministered to me the most were chapter 1 vs 16-18: “Loyalty and Faithfulness” chapter 2 vs 8-9: Obedience – chapter 3: Purification and Submission.

To me, Boaz represented Christ and Ruth represented The Bride of Christ – that is how I applied it to my life. God wanted me to take a good look at my life; he wanted me to surrender those things that I was having a hard time giving up.  He wanted to thresh out the strongholds that Satan had over my life. I understood and as I willingly submitted at the feet of Christ, he said: And now, my daughter, don't be afraid, I will do for you all you ask (Ruth 3:11} and I positioned myself to be purified and transform into a Woman of Loyalty and Submission. The threshing floor experience is not pleasant but looking back on it, it is the one time in my life that I realized that God was all I needed.  I am at ease and content with the intimate relationship I have found between God and me.  In that intimacy with the Lord a quiet trust grew.  I know that through whatever storms my life might bring I trust in his promise in 2 Corinthians 12:9 he says, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."  (So), Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. I have a safe harbor to rest in with the Lord.  And in Ruth 4:15 he said I will renew your life and sustain you in your old age.

Ruth was an extraordinary woman of God, even though she didn't start out that way. She was a sinner just like you and me, yet God used her in a profound way – just as He uses us today. This story reminds me that God can powerfully use each of us in spite of our past, our background or our behavior. God is searching for men and women who will turn away from sin, come into a relationship with Him through Christ and so that He may work through us to accomplish His ultimate will.

In Conclusion: If you are going through the threshing process today you are blessed.  You see, Our Father loves you so much that He wants to spend quality time with you. Like 1 Peter 5:6 tells us: Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time.  He wants to use this time to separate the weeds from the seeds in your life because He has something for you to do. He sees that you are worthy of taking time with because He knows what He has planned for the end product of your life. After going through this process we pass through to another level with the Lord. You are being prepared to enter the Holy Of Holies and God is going to meet you there and you will walk in supernatural intimacy with God that you have only dreamed of and being prepared for His purposes we can minister to others who find themselves on the threshing floor.  To God Be The Glory!!

The Desert Experience - God's Way

"Therefore, I am now going to allure her: I will lead her into the wilderness and speak tenderly to her. (Hosea 2:14}

The Desert Experience - God's Way

I have never experienced a desert season in my life like I did two years ago. I have never felt a more dreadful feeling of death and abandonment as I did in the beginning of this process.  I blamed everyone I thought of, except blaming myself.  When we (You and I) make choices in life—I don’t care how old you are, how godly you are, how not godly you are—every choice we make in life has consequences. You make wise choices, you will experience blessing in your lives; you make foolish choices, you will experience consequences.  With all honesty, I was in the desert as a consequence of my own wrong choices. God said, “Don’t.” I said, “I will,” and God said, “Okay, here are the consequences.” At the beginning of my experience, I was  very angry at God, because many unpleasant events happened within one instant to another, from losing my job, getting evicted, broken marriage, stepping down from ministry, chaos with family members, and betrayal of friends – all back to back – Everything and everyone I depended  on and trusted were gone.  We tend to rely on things and people that we can see. God wants to teach us to depend on what we cannot see. That’s faith: to rely on His character, His Word. “Man does not live on bread alone—“but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD” (Deuteronomy: 8:3).

In the desert, we don’t have any crutches, anything to lean on, God strips us. He strips us of pride,  He strips us of self-independence, He strips us from depending on others. We see ourselves for what we really are and sometimes it’s pretty ugly. What we really are comes out and we are humbled and we realize, “O God, apart from You I am a mess. I can’t keep my life together. Our pride wants to keep us in a circumstance where we can manage everything, but God sends us into the desert, where we can’t manage. We can’t make it on our own. The worst comes out and He humbles us. As I said before, in the beginning it was a struggle – a struggle between good and evil.  The first year was a year of exposing, extracting, cleansing, purifying everything within me.  There were things that manifested that I had no clue that lived within me {that is a story for another day}. But after the first agonizing year, the following months were of incredible growth, especially in my relationship with the Lord, but also in relationships with others. God began a time of healing.

I knew that I had to make a decision – I needed to choose my way or God’s way. I recognized that God’s way meant abandoning my dependence on myself or my dependency on others to meet my needs and submitting to whatever He would have for me. I realized that this could have meant even being by myself for the rest of my life. It seemed that the choice before me was similar to God speaking through Moses to the people of Israel in Deuteronomy 30:19,20: “ This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to Him. For the Lord is your LIFE!

With this experience, I learned that the desert is a retreat into the heart of God. He’s draws us into a place of intimacy so He can reveal Himself to us and teach us something about Himself. God can do anything He wants to do. He can fill your soul with manifestations and you’ll feel great. But, when He takes you into the desert, it’s so He can starve your soul into submission and into obedience. He wants our spirit to rise up and dominate. In the desert, God wants to strip away everything that strengthens the soul. He wants to see your faith rise up so you’re no longer be led by what you see or feel but will now be led by what you know in your spirit. God takes you into the desert to touch your spirit. God takes you into the desert to be alone with you. He wants to take care of you. To prove to you that He can. "This is personal." When God deals with us, His purpose is growth, maturity, and preparation and this involves death to self and to learn to trust Him or to gain more insight into His ways. He wants to speak tenderly to you, He wants to give you your inheritance, and He wants to see you whole (Hosea 2:14-15). These things can only come out of a desert experience.

To conclude: One day the Holy Spirit led me to Isaiah 43:19: See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.” As I read it, an overwhelming sense of gratitude humbled me as I also heard him say:  "Your process will not go in vain. I will transform you to be like DeborahWise and Courageous: like EstherTrustworthy and Obedient; like Ruth: Loyal and Submissive. (To God be the Glory!!) ..... As I look back today, going through the difficult, lonely, and painful times, if I had to do it again, I will embrace the desert experience as many times God feels I would need it, because I was  empowered to move forward stronger in my faith and to depend totally and completely to God and God only.  We need to let God reveal Himself to us, seduce us and lead us out into the desert, where He can romance our spirit and kill our flesh!  God knows the experiences we need to make us grow into maturity in Christ,  In our relationship with God, His purpose is to conform us to the image of His Son. And He WILL content to take as much time as necessary. We, on the other hand want everything to happen now, without suffering, pain, or sacrifice on our part. And God’s only response to that is - too bad. Adjust your thinking. I’m doing this my way. Again I say:  To God be the Glory! So, as I continue to walk in this journey called Life, God has prepared me to walk by faith, to trust and believe that through him, I am an Over-comer !
I Thank You Lord for giving me time in the hot desert where I trusted You to lead me to the destination that You wanted me to arrive, while You took care of me and revealed more of Yourself to me. In Jesus Name, Amen!!

Lessons from the Book of Jonah

Jonah’s Anger at the Lord’s Compassion
The Book of Jonah

As I was reading the book of Jonah, it ministered to me as how God doesn't require us to be perfect before He can use us, but the closer we stay to Him, and the more we surrender our wills to His, the less we'll ignore or rebel against His leading, and the more effective we will be as witnesses. God is the master planner, and He knows what is going to happen before it does.  We can't fool Him or frustrate His plans.  Ultimately, if we don't cooperate with His leading, He'll just work with other people who will cooperate with Him and we will just reap the consequences of disobedience.  God is not going to force us to serve Him if that's not what we really want to do.

 In Jonah 1:3 tells us: But Jonah ran away from the Lord. When Jonah chose to run away from his responsibilities, he didn't only put his own life in danger -- he put the lives of all those other sailors in danger and on account of him, they lost many of their possessions. Had he been a better witness, they could have come to a saving knowledge of God without the loss they ended up suffering first.

It is all too easy for us to decide who is worthy of the message of salvation and who is beyond hope, even though we have no authority for making such a determination.  We need to leave those issues to God, and just witness as we have opportunity. When we choose to serve God, we are committing our lives to Him to guide and direct us according to His purpose.  We can't just walk away whenever we don't like the assignment.

My Prayer:
.....Father, this is a new day—a new day of revelation and truth. You have come to open the secret places of my heart that I might know You in a greater way. I let go of all my reservations, from the smallest to the greatest, I let them go. Help me to learn from the life of Jonah that I might not spend my days in the belly of circumstances because I wanted to do things my way.  I make a choice to follow You and choose not to despise the process of learning and growing up in You Lord. Bring revelation and understanding to the Word when I read it. Open the eyes of my heart and let me see You. Let me see the kind intentions of Your heart for my life.
.....My God, have Your way in every area of my life. Change me from the inside out. Your truth settles down in my spirit to nourish the seeds, the visions and the dreams planted there by You. I want to feel You in the beauty of Your holiness and drink the milk of Your Word in areas where I need it. Fill me up as I think of You when I read your Living Word. Take me on an adventure of great discovery for where there is no door, You create one. You are sovereign and move accordingly in my life and the lives of those I love and in the lives of those I am to touch.  Lead me Lord, and I will follow.
.....My God, spiritual songs are flowing out of me and watering the dry and barren places in my life and the lives of others. All things are possible, for You are My Big God. I am and will continue to be who You have called me to be. Fill me to overflowing for I offer myself as a heart of sacrificial praise and obedience as I live in the grace of Your everlasting, ever enduring love. In Jesus Name, Amen

A Woman Of Worship

A WOMAN OF WORSHIP
Pastor Paula Rodriguez

Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. (John 4:23)

The Bible is filled with great examples of women who, through devotion to their King, were able to bring great change and have great influence in their lifetimes. I call them worshiping women, but I also believe that today, we have women who are true worshipers and are making a radical change to this generation and leaving a legacy of  "A WOMAN OF WORSHIP" and we have the honor to experience first hand her worship  lifestyle and anointed voice of Pastor Paula Rodriguez.

Here are few thoughts on how I see Pastor Paula as a Woman of Worship to be…

....She knows how to come before her Savior with such genuine thankfulness and enthusiasm that the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are compelled to receive the song of this adoring heart. She knows GOD HEARS HER CRY.

....She knows how to approach the King with awe, reverence and yet a pure and honest intimacy, allowing her to express the depths of praise erupting from her life. She knows the POWER OF PRAISE AND TRUSTS THE POWER OF GOD.

....Her extended hands invite those in her world to come and adore Him. She is BOLD, COURAGEOUS, DILIGENT AND DETERMINED. She knows how to get a job done.

....She has confidence in God's promises that her times are in His hands. She fears no evil. She knows WHEN GOD IS SPEAKING and KNOWS HOW TO SAY YES TO THE FATHER.

....She is tender yet strong, allowing the Lord to touch and heal the dark, broken places of her heart, sharing things with God that she would never tell another soul. She is NOT AFRAID OF WHAT PEOPLE THINK OF HER DEVOTION.

....She understands grace and stands confidently, not arrogantly, in the shadow of His wings. She is GENEROUS TO THE CORE.

....She trusts in the Lord with her whole heart, knowing that a song in the night season is far greater than no song at all. She knows how to be bold and BIRTH A NEW DAY FOR THE NEXT GENERATION.

"Two years ago, I had a dream with Pastor Paula, she was standing by a window playing her guitar as she looked up to the heavens. I didn't hear the lyrics she was singing but I felt  the presence of God as she sang. Again, although I didn't hear the words, it humbled me to kneel down before God in all surrender. Time after time after that God continued to show me, the many ways of how Pastor Paula worshiped him. So, I decided to write and create a poster as I saw in her "A Woman of Worship"

Portrait of a Godly Leader

Portrait of a Godly Leader – I Timothy 3; Titus 1
Pastor Joshua Rodriguez

{I Timothy 3:2} Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, {Titus 1:8}  Rather, he must be hospitable, one who loves what is good, who is self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined.......

Pastor Joshua

He is …. A temperate person is “cool, calm and collected,” especially in a moment of crisis. He’s not credulous, not easily deceived, not carried away by every wind of doctrine (Ephesians 4:14). He’s old enough and experienced enough not to be rattled under pressure. You discover this quality in a person’s life as you watch them in a crisis situation. A temperate man doesn't fall apart when his world falls apart. He doesn't lose his emotional equilibrium when the rug is suddenly pulled out from under him.
He is …. Self-controlled” and “sensible. He has a way of approaching the problems of life.
He is….. Balanced, reasonable and discerning—not given to extremes. He is experienced enough to keep his balance when life throws him a curve ball. He has a sober and serious attitude.
He is…. A great man to have around when a tough decision needs to be made because he doesn't jump to conclusions or act solely on the basis of his emotions.
He  …. Loves, but he does not love indiscriminately. He gets angry, but he never “loses his cool.” He is strong physically, but he doesn't intimidate others.
He is …. not argumentative, willing to listen, not given to a fighting spirit. He is a peace-maker, but not a peace-breaker. Deals with people and their problems and remains calm under pressure and provocation.
He is …. Not self-pleasing.”  He is free from arrogant self-will, who does not always have to have his own way.
 He is …. A leader who considers the whole picture before acting, he protects and does not humiliate. He “guards each man’s dignity and saves each man’s pride.” In making a decision he judges both the letter and the spirit of the law. He is willing to lose even when he is right. He is willing to yield, willing to forgive, willing to overlook.
 He is ….. Well-ordered and well-arranged. “dignified.”  It is seen in his outward behavior—his dress, his manners, his speech, the way he relates to the opposite sex. It touches the way he keeps his home and how he handles the various affairs of life. He can work through difficult problems with clear thinking.
He  ….. Beautifies the gospel. He makes Jesus beautiful and the gospel attractive to outsiders.
He is ….. A lover of strangers touches your attitude toward others. He is open, approachable, vulnerable, transparent, one who genuinely cares for others.
He is ….. A combination of goodness, honesty, fair and just.  Another quality he has a “good reputation” and “good witness.” Has the “voice of the people” and the “voice of God.”
He is …..That in which his quality of life which causes him to conform to that which pleases God.  He makes it easy to believe in Jesus.
He is …. And holds the “trustworthy message”, the essential truths of the Christian faith—the fundamentals which he does not compromised. He has a well-balanced teaching of God’s Word that produces healthy Christian living. He does not hold back to “correct” or “convince” those who “contradict” the truth.
He is …. A Godly example as head of his house, he has a family that is committed to Jesus Christ, loves his wife and his wife is dedicated to his spiritual leadership, his children love Jesus Christ and love and respect him.

On behalf of myself and my entire family, we thank God for putting in our path such a man like Pastor Joshua, who has always looked out for us, loving us, encouraging us and especially   being a man to hold us accountable to the expectations of God.  We thank God for he is always stretching us further and further to grow in the path of righteousness.  Pastor Joshua has been a amazing spiritual father and a great role model for ALL of us.  Heavenly Father,  we are eternally grateful for both Pastor Joshua and Pastor Paula.
